Getting debugger run time error while debugging a Cobol application on remote server using Java screen at Local machine.

Hi, I am debugging a cobol application on remote server by using JAVA screen which is running at local machine. Every time a "Display" statement appears in my Cobol program, the debugger stop and pop up a error dialog box with caption "Debugging RUN time error". The error is File Locked : SYSOUT. Error code : 65.

Debugger VS for .Net - Watch variables PIC S9 COMP

Problem:

Variables of type PIC S9(4) COMP with binary length 2 bytes (32 bit) are displayed with 4 digits. Is it possible to change the debugger settings to show the full range of values?

Sample: Field BIO-SEGM-LGTH-USE has a value of 11156 (x'2b94'), but is displayed as 1156.

Fix for MFED JCL debugger in Enterprise server the COBOL module breakpoints not working the code is bypassing all the preassigned breakpoints.

I am using MFED for Eclipse -  Enterprise Developer 3.0 Version: 3.0.00494.

There is an issue in the Enterprise Debugger for both CICS and JCL , when set with breakpoints in COBOL modules. The debugger doesn't stop on any of the breakpoints and runs through the entire routine without stopping. It does not look like a code issue since its working fine in Mainframe terminal.

Can anyone please suggest how to fix this issue?

HCOSS EBCDIC Database Creation

Documentation of the HCOSS includes a few tutorials, one of which shows how to create a database. However, this just shows the creation using the default collation for the service, which is generally ANSI. Should a system that is operating using the EBCDIC character set, as opposed to ASCII, use the EBCDIC collation sequence when creating the database? If not, how is an EBCDIC system supported by HCOSS?

Native COBOL debugging slow performance visual studio 2017

We recently updated Visual studio and MF enterprise developer. Now we have performance issues on debugging.

While debugging in Visual studio it takes a long time to get a value on mouse over. Sometimes it even freezes Visual studio and a restart is required.

How can we fix this?

Using:

- Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2017
- JetBrains ReSharper Ultimate 2018.1 Build 112.0.20180414.70444
- Micro Focus Enterprise Developer Team Edition 3.0

Application Migration with HCOSS - "ODBC Connection error:The specifiied DSN contains architecture mismatch".

Hi,

 

I am trying to migrate my Mainframe based cobol -Db2 modules to COBOL-Sql server in Microfocus. I was trying to use HCOSS Application Migration tool to minimize the module changes. But when i am setting up HCOSS Application migration option SQL(DIALECT+MAINFRAME) its failing with ODBC Connection error:The  specified DSN contains architecture mismatch".

 

No clue on this error. Please help me on this.

why are all these versions of Enterprise Developer, Eclipse, Visual studio (2013-2015-2017)?
which version to install?
based on what should I choose?

How to disable the pop up that Windows shows when an app crashes when i lunch run.exe?

I have disabled Just-In-Time debugger in visual studio, 

now I don't have the message box of JIT but when cobol program crash I have this message box :

 

 

how I can remove this?

Eclipse Plugin for ED on Red Hat help

The release notes for ED 4.0 for Eclipse mention 'Starting with R4 Patch 4 you can plug Enterprise Developer into Eclipse 4.8 installed on your machine. This requires you have Red Hat 7 or later'. I can find no instructions anywhere on how to do this (I did find the instructions for Windows). ED and the License server installed fine.

Has anyone done this and can they point me to the plugin(s) location? Eclipse 4.10 on RHEL 7
